Mindfulness Coaching

CatMindfull1_edited.jpg
Mindfulness has enjoyed a tremendous surge in popularity in the past decade, both in the popular press and in psychotherapy literature. The cultivation of mindfulness has roots in Buddhism, a concept founded circa 2,600 years ago, and is now a mainstream psychotherapy construct today. My sessions are centred towards meditation techniques that help shift your thoughts away from your usual preoccupations toward an appreciation of the moment and a larger perspective on life. During my psychology studies, I specialised in the use of Mindfulness to treat depression. However, later in life I know value and appreciate the importance of mindfulness in everyday life to help with all areas of health and wellbeing.

Mindfulness can have many benefits, including:

  • Mental health - The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) recommends mindfulness-based therapies as a way to treat less severe depression and anxiety. It can help improve your ability to cope with difficult thoughts and also help you understand your emotions better and help equip us for difficult challenges.
  • Physical health - Mindfulness can help lower blood pressure, improve sleep, and reduce pain.
  • Focus and concentration - Mindfulness can help you improve your attention span and concentration, and cut through distractions.
  • Memory and mental clarity - Mindfulness can help improve your memory and mental clarity, which can help fight age-related memory loss and dementia.
  • Willpower - Mindfulness can help develop the mental discipline needed to avoid unhelpful habits.
  • Compassion - Mindfulness can help you better understand yourself, and increase positive feelings and actions toward others.
  • Self-control, objectivity, and emotional intelligence - Mindfulness can help improve your self-control, objectivity, and emotional intelligence.
  • Ability to relate to others - Mindfulness can help improve your ability to relate to others with kindness, acceptance, and compassion.

Where do sessions take place?
Wherever you are in the world! I can do sessions over video call, or in person from my log cabin in West Wales.

How do I book?
Please use the online booking system.

How soon can you do the session?
The online booking system is live and will show you my availability.

What do I need to do before a session?
It helps to have an intention or to think of something to focus on. For example, what do you want to see more/less of in your life? I am able to help talk you through setting an intention before we begin and finally, bring an open mind!

How much does a session cost?
I would recommend a free 15 minute consultation, either in person or online, to ensure that we are compatible and answer any questions you may have.

Check out my bookings page to see a full breakdown of my services.

How do I pay?
This is done via the booking system. If you are unable to use the online system, I am able to do direct bank transfer or cash (face to face).

Do you do group sessions?
I can offer group sessions for mindfulness (in-person or on zoom/teams) sometimes as discounted rates. Please contact me for more information.

What kinds of things do you cover in your Mindfulness sessions?
Following a free consultation, I will tailor a session based on what you tell me your challenges/ goals are. I will primarily focus on mindfulness as a type of meditation in which you focus on being intensely aware of what you're sensing and feeling in the moment, without interpretation or judgment. Your session may involve breathing methods, guided imagery, visualisation and other practices to relax the body and mind, help reduce stress and obtain clarity, allowing you to feel more centred and balanced. I will give you the tools and a structure to allow you to move forward with using mindfulness as an everyday habit. I will sometimes incorporate energy healing or ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) into the sessions and this is tailored to your needs.

What happens if I need to cancel a session?
I respect that life can sometimes get in the way, so if you need to cancel, I ask that you give me as much notice as possible. Charges may apply if within 24 hours of the booking. Thank you for understanding.

I am not a doctor, counsellor, financial advisor, midwife or any other trained medical professional.
